Family volunteer programs in Nepal, Peru, Ecuador, and Ghana since 1992

Ages
4 – 17
When
Year-round; flexible start dates and durations across destinations

What this is

Family volunteer trips across four destinations — Nepal, Peru, Ecuador's Galapagos, and Ghana — run by Projects Abroad, an international placement organization that's hosted volunteers since 1992.

Children ages 4 to 14 join their parents on the project — caring for giant tortoises and reforesting in the Galapagos, helping with animal rescue and breeding programs for butterflies and turtles in Peru, or doing childcare in Chitwan and Kathmandu. Teens 15 and up can volunteer with parents or independently. Trips run year-round with flexible start dates and durations from two to three weeks or more, and accommodation, meals, and ground transportation are included.

Best fit for families who want their service trip planned end-to-end while keeping kids meaningfully on the project.
