Who we are

Skyscape LLC, a Puerto Rico limited liability company doing business as FarSeason (“FarSeason,” “we,” “us”), runs farseason.com, a directory of worldschooling hubs, family camps and educational travel programs. We are based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and we are responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described in this policy. Contact us at hello@farseason.com.

This policy covers farseason.com, our emails and related services (the “Service”). It doesn’t cover the programs listed on FarSeason or other websites we link to. They have their own practices.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact and account details, such as your name and email address.
  • Programs you save, and your preferences.
  • Messages you send to programs or to us, and anything you include in them. Families often mention their children’s ages, travel dates and questions. Please share only what you’re comfortable with the program seeing.
  • Your choices about marketing email.
  • Payment-related details if you buy something from us. Card details are handled by our payment processor.
  • Anything else you choose to send us, such as feedback or survey answers.

If you give us information about other people, such as your children or travel companions, you confirm you have the authority to share it. Please don’t send sensitive information, such as health details, unless a program needs it. If you choose to include it, you consent to us handling it and passing it to the programs you contact.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we and our service providers collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, general location, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and how you interact with the Service. We use cookies and similar technologies to do this. See our Cookie Policy.

Information from others

We may receive information about you from programs you’ve contacted, from sign-in or payment providers, and from partners.

How we use information

  • To provide the Service: running your account, signing you in, and saving your wishlist.
  • To pass your inquiries to programs, and to follow up with you about them.
  • To send you service emails, such as sign-in links and confirmations.
  • To send you news, updates and recommendations from FarSeason (see “Your choices” below).
  • To understand how the Service is used, and to improve it, personalize it and build new features.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
  • To comply with the law and protect the rights of FarSeason, our users and others.

We may also create aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you, such as how many families contacted a program, and use it for any purpose.

How we share information

  • With programs you contact. When you send an inquiry, we pass your name, email and message to the program or programs you ask us to contact. Once a program receives your information, its own privacy practices apply. Many programs are outside the United States. We may decide not to forward a message, for example if it looks like spam.
  • With service providers that help us run the Service, such as hosting, database, sign-in, email delivery, analytics, payments, customer support and AI tools.
  • With partners, such as programs and businesses we work with, when you ask us to or agree to it.
  • For legal reasons: to comply with the law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of FarSeason, our users or others.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of FarSeason.
  • With your consent, or at your direction.

Your choices

  • Marketing email: you can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time, using the link in the email or by contacting us. You’ll still get service emails, such as sign-in links.
  • Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser. Parts of the Service, like staying signed in, may not work without them.
  • Do Not Track: the Service doesn’t currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
  • Your information: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, email hello@farseason.com. We may need to verify your identity, and we’ll respond as applicable law requires.

Children

The Service is meant for adults, and you must be 18 or older to create an account. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll take steps to delete it.

Keeping and protecting information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to provide the Service, keep records, resolve disputes and comply with the law. How long depends on the type of information and why we have it.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Sign-in works through links sent to your email, so keep your email account secure.

International users

FarSeason is based in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. We and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

EU, EEA, UK and Swiss residents

Where these laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide the Service you request, including passing your inquiries to programs.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, improve and promote the Service, provided those interests aren’t overridden by your rights.
  • Consent: where we ask for it, for example for certain marketing and cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: where the law requires it.

When we transfer your information out of these regions, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can make the requests described under “Your choices,” and you can complain to your local data protection authority. We don’t make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version here and change the date at the top.
