Farmhouse family stay with 12 acres of olive groves in Andalucia
About this program
Twelve acres of olive groves in the quiet hills of Oria, Almería — about as far from a tourist trail as Southern Spain gets. Corianda Shepherd and her blended family of six relocated here from England in 2015 and have been welcoming worldschooling families ever since. The property includes two farmhouses and the Cortijo Serendipia guesthouse, set among ancient olive trees with views of the Andalucian sierra.
Stays are a one-month minimum, which gives families time to settle in rather than just pass through. Daily life here revolves around the rhythm of the farm — slow mornings, outdoor play, shared meals, and the kind of unhurried pace that lets kids and parents actually decompress. Oria is a small hilltop village with a castle, a handful of restaurants, and very little else, which is exactly the point. The nearest airports are Almería (1.5 hours) and Murcia (2 hours). Pricing runs €895–€2,995 per month depending on the season and accommodation.
This is one of the longer-running worldschooling hubs in Europe, with a solid reputation across the community. If you're looking for a place where your family can just live for a while — not perform, not sightsee, just live — Shepherd's Rest is worth a serious look.
